GDPR – What you need to know

Data Protection Update

In May 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force, bringing existing legislation up to par with the digital age we all now live in and it dramatically changes the landscape of data protection law and the way that companies collect and use personal data belonging to a consumer.

In simple terms, GDPR ensures that companies must protect any personal data provided by a consumer, meaning that a consumer must give their consent for companies to hold and use their data in the first place, puts in place strict rules whereby a company holding personal data must delete all data held upon request and also provide copies of all data held to a consumer when asked.

AdultWork.com have worked tirelessly behind the scenes since late 2017 to comply with the new regulations and have undertaken a programme of major investment in both technology and staffing to reach our current position where we are now recognised as being a fully GDPR compliant organisation.

The penalties for companies found to be non-compliant are extremely severe and we are already seeing numerous examples of smaller companies in the adult arena closing their doors due to the regulatory burden, with undoubtedly more to follow whilst AdultWork.com continue to be the go-to, safe, secure and compliant platform of choice for Industry workers.
